The annual NYSSMA Recognition Ceremony has been cancelled. We are discussing rescheduling for a week or two later. We will notify FOMS members and Shen music teachers if the ceremony is rescheduled.

The University of Rochester YellowJackets, a men's a cappella vocal group, performed at Shen as part of a larger tour. The Shen Music Department welcomed the YellowJackets on March 9. This highly acclaimed vocal ensemble featured Shen graduate and musician, Nick Wiggins! They presented a morning program for the middle school choral students and an afternoon performance for the high school choral students. Nick Wiggins is studying at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.

FOMS is a non-profit organization of parents, students, teachers, and other members of the Shenendehowa community who feel that music is a vital part of a student’s educational and social development. Our goal is to support the Shen Music Program by helping to fund activities not covered by the school district budget and by providing volunteers for festivals and concerts. In June 2010, the Shen Music Department will host the NYSSMA festival. FOMS will help the Music Department organize and run the festival. |
